Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA)

What is TIA?

- Use to determine the impact of traffic generated from a proposed site development (upon full development)
- It identities the need for mitigation measures for a transportation system to reduce congestion, to maintain/improve road safety
-  As basis for assessing and apportioning a developer’s contribution to road improvements
- Provide a framework in making critical land use and site planning decisions regarding traffic and transportation issues.

When TIA needed?

-     When a development generates a specified number of peak hour trips
-     When a development generates a specified number of daily trips
-     When a development contains a specified number of dwelling units or specified built-up floor area
-     When a development occurs in a sensitive area
-     When a Appropriate Authority considers it necessary under unusual situation
